FOREX Harmonic Pattern Scanning Algorithm in Python pt. 4: Butterfly Pattern

5 007 views | 26 Jun. 2017

This video covers the

This video covers the construction of the Butterfly Harmonic pattern for the scanning algorithm. The similarity between the gartley pattern, the butterfly, the crab, and the bat are striking. All we need to do is change the range for each retracement, modifying our original gartley function.

Algorithmic trading is always a challenge. But an expert is a person that has tried many different strategies and failed. If we welcome failures and see them as opportunities to improve, only then can we reach our full potential. The purpose of this series is to show people a profitable algorithmic strategy and document how to construct it.

I hope you are all enjoying it! In the next video we will further improve the readability of the algorithm and finish up writing the bat and crab functions.

NICE!!! can't wait :D

Marcel Kresse

Awesome tutorial, keep going and thanks for sharing!!!

Pika So

Great tutorial, I really like the way you explain. Cant wait to watch the rest of your series, it's been more than 1 month, hopefully you have not given up!!

How would you create a fully automated robot with this code later on to run on any platform? What if my broker only supports lua or java (FXCM Marketscope, Indicore SDK) but I want to use Python in a live strategy. There is a ForexConnect API Python wrapper but I'd rather use Indicore (lua) any suggestion. The only thing I can think of is to use this as stand alone analysis on historical csv data to get the potential D point levels to insert in strategy written in Lua to make it semi-automatic

I have tried this search method and have had limited success. I think to be more successful you need to consider a broad range of points and have an algorithm that can consider many combinations or arrangements of the points. So any mathematician might know a formula that can identify a pattern within a given set of points.

Andrei Miruta

Thanks a lot for your work man! It's really useful, especially for newbies like me.

Julio Cabrera

Great! but I think that you should run program during the video, or show what is going on :D But a great tutorial man

Oliver Li

with argrelextrema, you can even do divergence with MACD, momentum, and stuff like that as those technical analysts do with their eyes.

DJ David

How can I get in contact with you?

Pattern of the Month #10 – Willie Gun Butterfly

6 202 views | 7 Jan. 2021

The 10th pattern in the

The 10th pattern in the series is the classic British fly, maybe one of the modern patterns that have given most fish. This very modern mobile version is simply fantastic. Mikael prefers this version on the slower pools in the slightly tinted humus water where it’s given many great fish. The ostrich hackles swim together and gives a great fishy appearance. It’s a super cool version on one of the world’s most popular salmon flies. It’s a quite tricky fly to tie with many materials. Easy to over dress but tied right it’s a gorgeous version on this classic pattern.

If you want to tie or fish your own Willie Gun Butterflies we offer you customized packs with fly tying materials and ready flies. Buy one-time packs, or better—join the subscription and get the packs delivered to you automatically every month at a beneficial price.

I'm a first time watcher of this channel and was very impressed. Your tying steps and explanations of each were excellent! I do not tie on tubes but I do tie intruder style flies on shanks. I learned some things here that I may be able to incorporate into these intruder style flies. That is until I start tying on tubes! I love the quality materials you have available and may be purchasing some from you in the near future. I have subscribed to your channel and hope to see more like this in the coming years. Thank you so much!

Nice... Classic with a modern twist, looking forward to getting back behind the vice.
