Kraken Chief Security

Kraken Chief Security Officer Nick Percoco explains the importance of securing your accounts with two-factor authentication and why it’s safer to use a 2FA application on your phone instead of a phone number.

Alix21 North Face

can you pls show us, how? or make a Video, how we do that. tnx

Arūnas Lašiūnas

Can i use Google prompt?

And for some reason the Authenticator never seems to Authenticate when i use the generated code

Is that Koan Sound I hear??

So if I understand this correctly, I shouldn’t use my phone for Authenticator app, it should be on the tablet?

Be secure with 2FA

The Workhorse is all locked up, exceptional theft deterrent, the trailer next to yours has none and yours does, theft is mostly about opportunities and you’ve taken that away or made it extremely unappealing to a would be thief.

how much are those locks? my insurance deductible is $500

Dan Dennis

I did not catch the type of lock that was used. I currently have an inferior Reese lockset.

Renovations and Repair

When I but my dump trailer in early 2020 I will buy both of these locks!

Richard Main

Another thought, have you thought about adding a GPS tracking unit on the trailer?

randy kline

Never heard of kraken lock or ft Knox lock until now and think its time too get ft Knox lock for my enclosed trailer and get rid of the el cheapo one i have. Thanks JD.

They keep showing my hands, But not my face tv. 010101010101

Ron Shafer

Wow JD you have the Ultimate truck and now you have the ultimate dump trailer so jealous already went on the website to check it out and they have your trailer listed they’re on sale all specked out love your videos keep up the good work

The Opinion of Matt

I live in lower crime area of a relatively high crime city. I have a hitch lock on our camper and my dad's utility/landscaper trailer. But I haven't been able to find anything for the lunette ring on my M1102 HUMVEE trailer. I've considered just putting the pintle hook on it and using hitch locks on it so that it wouldn't be able to be removed or inserted into a receiver hitch. Any other suggestions? From anyone, I'm open to anything.

Kyle Pokorski

But 2 grade 8 chains around the axle through the wheels is a little more budget friendly

Which puck lock did you choose to go with? I see there are a few different options to choose from on their website.

Mike Jones

Looking good. Nice and safe. But if ya lost ya keys use oxy-acetylene torch. Torch it off.

Doug Burnett

Ha the Lock picking Lawyer will have it open in 30 seconds or less and good by trailer..

LPL says 1,2,3,4, click on 5,6, 7 and we are open.

Tim Salley

Simple fact of the matter is if they want it, they will take it. My idea is they are at least going to break a sweat taking it...

William Sawyer

Cool videos

Steve F

You bring good things to those of us who watch your channel. I for one appreciate your highly competent, well thought out offerings.

Neither of those devices are cutting torch proof or using a zip disk.

Seen theives use those safety chains to pull trailers off

I bought same trailer last year. If you will note, Texas Pride allows the removal of the safety chain via pins. When I park my trailer at sites, I remove the coupler and the chains. Trailer theft happens when they wrap the chain around the hitch of a truck and go. Removal of the chain limits that type of theft. Removal of the coupler adds another degree of difficulty, as most thieves won't go buy a ~$80 coupler to steal a trailer. I also use a wheel boot, GPS tracker and normal car alarm. Absolutely best theft protection is insurance. I have all my trailers insured for theft, If I recall, ~$4 a month ea or something near. I shall agree the krakenlock would be a wise investment, but I'd install it without the coupler, thus adding another degree of difficulty. The issue with securing the trailer is it MUST be simple and quick for the end-user. The harder and longer it takes to implement the security, the more likely it'll get skipped. EXAMPLE, if it takes ~14 min to setup and install all the security, and its COLD out. The driver may say, " It's only here for 3 days, I can skip these 2 locks and just put this one lock on..." Eventually, he will stop using the 4 security methods as and just use 3. Then after a few times of that, and nothing bad happening, he will just use 2 of them. And after a few times of nothing happing with just two of the security measures, he will just default to one, the easiest one to setup. So, in short, the install and use of the security measures needs to be quick n simple.

Doug Burnett

Ha the LPL has already picked the puck lock with no trouble at all.

John Yim

I've been looking for a way to secure my adjustable height coupler! Thanks I just ordered a Kraken and it was on sale so bonus there . As for the tongue the Ft Knox looks good but I ended up using a Proven Locks hitch vault and also use an Abloy puck lock. And for those talking about LPL, yes he can pick it I'm sure but a lock is just a deterrent. You don't have to be the fastest runner to get away from the bear, you just don't want to be the slowest. :)

Nice lock setup
Out my way I’ve seen guys with a low pintle hook and ball coupler one lower than other
His pickup is way taller than the pintle hook
You would think the dot would say no but don’t

Tim F

Nice Locks, I have on my Andersen

Chris M

Love the Ft Knox lock for my 24' bay boat aluminum trailer.

Looks nice, but after all this couldn’t one just hookup that chain to their truck using a d-ring, pull the jack up and take it?

Doesn’t look like it would be too bad to drill it out from the stud side

Tim Bene

Seems like the Kraken could use some thicker steel & or harder steel. Pry bar or Battery Portaband would not last long. Someone tried to steel my 20ft 14K lb trailer out of my driveway. Tongue lock was broke off but my 11$ Harbor Freight pin lock kept it from being stolen. It was bent but was not broken. I made my own out of 1/4” plate, old 2” ball & a puck lock. It is not perfect but a start.

maximum woof

blood sweat and tears = 99 percent inspiration, 1 percent perspiration... once proof of concept, farm out laser cut, welding , lather rinse repeat, money rollls in

Stacy Reid

Has anybody ever tried to break either of those style locks I know that by using a 3/8 drill bit and drilling into the brass part of the key section you can break open a pad lock ?

Wade H

Im glad i still live in a area where you don't have to lock everything up. Even leave vehicles running while stopping at a store on a cold day unlocked

Hello, hopefully you can help. What lock wht you use when the trailer is currently hooked to your truck? For example if you unload a sxs and your truck and trailer are going to sit all day in a parking lot etc.. thanks for the info appreciate it

martin ramirez

You don’t need that, just weld the bolts

Mike Miller

Two 9K axles doesn’t equal 20k! Come on man. Your reach for masculinity is embarrassing. You have a 14k trailer there with higher capacity axles. Go ahead and load that trailer down to your crazy idea of 20k capacity and record that one.

Btw, DOT doesn’t just go off the sticker. Anyone can put a sticker on their trailer. They go by your tires most of the time.

Ken Minney

Cant someone just drill the Cracken lock out?& also I've seen where ppl will just pull it away with the Chains.

i wonder if you can add some kind of gps tracking , location system on the trailer as well. My brothers trailer was stolen and he had a lock on it . He thinks the thieves just picked it up and dragged it. Nice locks btw.

Hopkins Home

I use a hidden 4Track gps tracker on my trailer. I then set Geo zones to text me when it moves. I also have locks but that just keeps honest people from taking it.

Roy Davis

I'd look to see if you can put the plug inside the Fort Knox Lock. I have used wheel locks.

David McConnell

:-)) :-))

I've seen many products currently on the market that would have replaced that Kraken Lock; it's called a mig welder. I don't have the same type of ball mount you do on my trailers, but if I did and was worried about any of them getting stolen, I would have just welded those nuts to the bolts. I mean seriously... If not for you installing that Kraken Lock, you would have never removed that; nobody would. Weld it to save the money and be done with it. On the rare chance that some idiot backs into his trailer drunk at 90 mph and messes up the ball hitch, the nuts could easily be cut off and replaced.
As far as the other type of ball hitch locking device, I would never be without the ones I use. Because you're right... If you just leave it like that other fool next to you did, the damn thing gets stolen.

I’m pretty sure your trailer is safe now :)

Jacob Hawes

You should see if Fort Knox locks wants to sponsor the channel and give the subscribers a discount code ?

Matt Chamberlin

I hope you sleep better at night with all this security.

john russo

id just paint that orange lock red or black cause that looks like you just keep it on till your needed to adjust

Daniel Ramsey

It's a shame they don't have a spring brake affair that locks the brakes solid.

Couldn’t you just weld the end of the nuts, and do away with the kraken lock?

Bishop George

Great, this is very nice to have I love the fact that they are made in the U.S.A I will be getting one for my 5th wheel.

Motorcycle Mitzi

Here's my trailer securing method that works for enclosed or other trailers with a lockable box. i install a viper or other car alarm that has relay control outputs. it attaches to the battery that a thief doesnt have access to(additional reasons to follow) just like a car alarm if trailer is tampered with or moved, or if a door or lid is opened (pin switch needed) the alarm will go off , make noise, flash the lights, and most importantly that controlled output relay is connected to the electric brace circuit (in a non visible location) or to the electric over hydraulic system. if the alarm is triggered power is applied to the electric brakes locking the wheels making it nearly impossible to tow. a trailer with an alarm siren going off, blinking lights and smoking tires(if thief is trying to drag down the road) draws lots of attention. this is great for tradesman or musicians who have to make trips back and forth getting tools or loading trailer since you dont have to keep putting padlock on and off doors. its just a press of the remote. you can also put electric locks on cargo trailer doors making it very easy to secure property in trailers. I have seen many times a trailer with motorcycles that is connected to a truck stops to sleep at a hotel and the whole truck and trailer is stolen. now imagine if thief tries to steal truck and defeats vehicle alarm the trailer alarm will still go off so in effect it is also protecting tow vehicle.

Kaster Choi

How tall is your bed?

Send those locks to either The Lock Picking Lawyer or Bosnian Bill, bet they won't last more than 2 minutes of simple attack and trailer will still be gone.

Ckyrck Abraham

Kool set up. I curious to see what's gonna be your solution to secure the chains on your beautiful trailer! I hear it can be use to steal the TT even if secured with the Ft. Knox Lock on...

Ric Bailey

Are you into landscaping now. That’s a pretty unique trailer for only specific uses. With access to one already, on a 2sr come 1st serve basis you must be branching out. Enjoy

LockPickingLawyer: Well, hello there.

fyi all you do is rap your chains and bind them on your ball drop jack and pull away....toung jacks are a scam youtube it....

But I've seen these Locks Picked quickly by The Lock Picking Lawyer on YouTube. Check him out and videos with these cylinder locks. I don't care how they are built, but the cheap locks not designed the same for protection.. Get a Locksmith to check out the locks.. Save $$$$

i've heard that trailer thieves just use the safety chains to tow the trailer away.

B rad

Kenneth Clarke

Can you do a video about the proper Jack for heavier cargo/dump trailers curious as to what have is on yours

Why not just park it at the ranch?

Even a slightly motivated thief can devise a way to lift and tow away or simply modify a tow truck unfortunately.
Also use chock locks that also cover the lug nuts (or use wheel locks) on at least 2 trailer tires, for another hurdle. I also design and add "decoys" which I wont disclose here (another tip: I keep an old throw-away wallet in the driver side door pockets...it is filled with junk like expired gift cards that look like credit cards, some real looking fake money, some illegible receipts stuffed in to make the wallet look juicy, and a little note that says FU, etc) ...the art of misdirection

Will this work on where the weight distribution head bolts onto the shank?

daddy 33

Lock picking lawyer ?
His level of skills ? ???.
Send it to him. I promise he will find it's failures.

Ger 13 NunYah

Order if defeat:
Crackhead will move on.
Opportunist contractor will use cut off wheel or torch.
Professional thief will use Ramset or pick the lock.
There really is no security that's perfect. At least this will slow them down.

Mark Cole

As a recently retired LEO in California, I promise all of you LPL lovers, 99.999% of the criminals interested in stealing your trailer can NOT pick that lock. They’d take one look at it and move onto the next trailer without a lock or the battery boxes lol. Thanx BTBRV, as quasi-recent subscriber, I’d not heard of the Ft. Knox lock. Heading to their site now for my ORV trailer ???
